The final results of the SP DX Contest 2008 were presented on October 18 during the annual Meeting of the SP DX Club. The SP DX Contest 2008 was a Jubilee Contest. We were celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the first edition of the contest. Thanks to all participants for being a part of our very special HAM radio event. The SP DX Contest was organized for the first time in 1933 and was called The 1st International Polish Amateur Radio Union Contest that time. It gained over 1000 participants - stations which appeared in the contest. In the final results there are 344 calls from 36 countries outside Poland and 36 Polish stations. The organization of the first edition was provided by the Amateur Radio Club of Lvov (Lvov, now in Ukraine, was part of Poland that time). To commemorate the 75th anniversary of organization of the first edition of the competition, one of the oldest HAM contest events, a special award will be issued: SP DX Contest - 75th Anniversary Award. The award is issued by Polish Amateur Radio Union and SP DX Club in co-operation with the Amateur Radio Club of Lvov. The yacht JOSEPHINE with the Polish Team 3B6SP had real problems about 17 nautical miles South from St. Brandon. On Wednesday June 6 one of the engines broke down. There were also serious problems with sails. Fishing vessel COVADIS had to help them to get to St. Brandon. It was decided they must wait 12 days to repair the yacht.
